Alaska Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka today released the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade:
“Consistent with the 10th Amendment, the Supreme Court has returned the decisions regarding abortion laws to each state. While we mourn the tens of millions of innocent persons who were killed under Roe v. Wade, this ruling represents a victory for millions of pre-born Americans to come, who will now be able to exercise their God-given rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In addition, rather than directing federal taxpayer dollars to abortion providers, as a U.S. senator, I will support funding local clinics, those closest to our communities, which provide women’s health care and support services, but not abortions.
“The issue of abortion clearly separates me from my two main competitors in this Senate race. Progressive Democrat Pat Chesbro is a radical who sides with her national party leaders in supporting abortion-on-demand up to the moment of birth, but at least she is up front about her position. By contrast, no one on either side of the issue trusts Lisa Murkowski, which is indicative of her career in the Senate.
“Because of this and so many other issues, Alaskans know that it’s time for a change in the Senate.”
